Theodore Gordon Flyfishers, Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. All TGF programs and events are funded by tax deductible member, nonmember and institutional donations. TGF has for 45 years relied upon the generosity of its supporters and benefactors to carry out its vital mission of environmental conservation, education, and habitat preservation. TGF does qualify for corporate matching funds, so if your company has such a program please do not forget to include the proper form with your donation. You do not need to be a member to donate to the TGF mission.

The TGF Conservation Fund

Dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of coldwater fisheries in the Catskills and Croton watersheds and elsewhere in the tristate area, through habitat improvement, environmental conservation, promoting self-sustaining fisheries, public education, and cooperative efforts with other conservation groups. The fund is devoted to improving public opportunities for enjoying angling and to support self-sustaining wild trout fisheries where possible.

The TGF Founders Fund

In 2005 the Board of Directors of TGF approved a fund from which TGF could provide scholarships to outstanding students of the environmental sciences in the New York area. The TGF Founders Fund carries the 21 names of the 1963 charter members of TGF. The program currently offers an annual academic merit scholarship of $3,500 to an exceptional student in an environmental program of study such as, but not limited to, cold water fisheries management, environmental law, fishery conservation, aquatic biology.

From it’s beginning, the Founders Fund has partnered with the Environmental Consortium of Hudson Valley Colleges & Universities to help tap the best and the brightest students in the region. (link to consortium)

TGF Founders Fund Society

In 2010, TGF launched the Founders Fund Society to create an endowment for the Founders Fund in an effort to protect and sustain the scholarships in the years ahead. Membership levels include:

$250 - $499 FFS Member
  • includes TGF Membership and invitations to TGF events and subscription to Quill
  • Founders Fund Society (FFS) Membership
  • Invitations to FFS events
$500 - $999 FFS Supporter
  • includes all of the above and
  • Complimentary invitation to FFS/Pace Environmental Consortium event for FFS members.
$1,000 - $2,999 FFS Sustainer
  • includes all of the above and
  • Invitation to reception with TGF Directors and Environmental Consortium faculty.
$3,000 and above FFS Founding Patron
  • includes all of the above and
  • Invitation to a Founding Patrons fishing party with TGF President and Directors
  • Acknowledgement as Founding Patron in perpetuity wherever list appears.

Gifts count for the TGF Founders Fund Society campaign in the appropriate fiscal year (November 1-October 31) based on the date your gift is received.
