TGF will join with the Catskill Flyfishing Center and Museum and Long Island Flyrodders for a clean-up day on the Willowemoc and Beaverkill. We will meet at the museum at 9:30 on Saturday, April 26th and will pick up trash along the streams through the morning. Lunch will be served at the museum around noon. This leaves the afternoon free to wet a line. Bring work gloves. Contact the Conservation Committee for more information.
Please join us for an hour of beer, wine and scrumptious hors d'oeuvres starting at 6 pm in the private event room at City Crab.
The social hour will be followed by a presentation on the latest trend in conservation finance, with Ron Rhodes from the Connecticut River Watershed Council. CRWC administers a crowdfunding website, CleanWaterFuture.org, through which individuals, communities, and businesses can invest in small scale stream restoration projects on private lands in the Connecticut River watershed. Mr. Rhodes will explain how crowdfunding works and give us an overview of some of its success stories.
Please join fellow TGF members and friends to help us continue our effort to restore and improve spawning in the Beaverkill. TGF is the official steward of a tributary to the Beaverkill designated as T22B on official NY DEC maps. This stream was identified by TGF member and fisheries biologist Ed Van Put as having potential as a spawning tributary. Since 2010 TGF has done work on this stream to clear gravel beds, provide deeper holding pools and remove obstructions at the mouth of the stream to facilitate migration of trout. Please plan to join us in June to continue this work. More details will follow as the date draws near.
Your support is critical to Theodore Gordon Flyfisher’s ability to fulfill its mission to protect and preserve riparian habitat through conservation, environmental oversight and education. During 2013, because of your help, TGF was able to increase its endowment for the Founders Fund Scholarship program, continue its environmental conservation work and honor some of the critical players in both these efforts.
Please help make 2014 our most successful year yet.
